From AS Monaco to the 2023 World Championships: Téo Andant representing France and Monaco Silver medallist at the 2023 World Championships with the French relay team, 25-year-old Téo Andant is establishing himself as one of the leading hopes in the 400 metres. With the Birmingham European Championships approaching (from 10 to 16 August), he continues his determined path. “ It is my number one goal in 2026. It will be an incredible opportunity to shine on the international stage and to represent both France and Monaco. ” Now based in Paris, training at the INSEP, Téo often returns to the Principality, where he reunites with his family in Menton and his sporting roots. “ France is my country; I am proud to wear its colours. But Monaco is my adopted homeland. I grew up there in sports. I have always run for AS Monaco, and the Principality has given me so much, both personally and materially. I was even privileged to represent Monaco at the games of the small states of Europe. During competitions in France, I am often considered ‘the Monegasque’. That means a lot to me. Without the support of the club, the principality, and Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, I would not be able to make a living from my sport. ” But behind the performance, the most important thing remains: “ What touches me most is the pride of my parents and those around me. De l’AS Monaco aux Mondiaux 2023 : Téo Andant aux couleurs de la France et de Monaco Médaillé d’argent aux Mondiaux 2023 avec le relais français, Téo Andant, 25 ans, s’impose comme l’un des grands espoirs du 400 mètres. À l’approche des Championnats d’Europe de Birmingham (du 10 au 16 août prochain), il poursuit son chemin avec détermination. « C’est l’objectif numéro un en 2026. Ce sera une opportunité incroyable pour briller sur la scène internationale et représenter à la fois la France et Monaco. » Aujourd’hui installé à Paris pour s’entraîner à l’INSEP, Téo revient régulièrement en Principauté, où il retrouve ses racines sportives et sa famille qui réside à Menton. « La France est mon pays, je suis fier de porter ses couleurs. Mais Monaco est ma terre d’adoption. J’y ai grandi sportivement. J’ai toujours couru pour l’AS Monaco et la Principauté m’a offert énormément, tant sur le plan humain que matériel. J’ai même pu représenter Monaco aux Jeux des Petits États d’Europe. Et puis, lors des compétitions en France, on me considère souvent comme «le Monégasque». Cela me touche. Sans le soutien du club, de la Principauté et de Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, je ne pourrais pas vivre de mon sport. » Mais derrière la performance demeure l’essentiel : « Ce qui me touche le plus reste la fierté de mes parents et de mon entourage. C’est pour eux que je me dépasse ». ■
