On the courts of the Rock, a talent turned icon At 25 years of age, Valentin Vacherot suddenly overcame the hurdles in one leap: it was in Shanghai, during the ATP Masters 1,000 tournament last October. The tennis player moved from 204 th position to the Top 50 (his highest ranking having been 30 th at the end of 2025). Today, he confides that he felt “ something was happening ”. “ You start winning one, then two matches; and you tell yourself that nothing can stop you. ” What appeared to the public as a lightning strike was, in fact, the result of diligent training; training that was not always rewarded. But effort always pays off, and Valentin Vacherot highlights “ the alignment of the stars ” in the journey that took him from the qualifiers to victory in the final against his cousin Arthur Rinderknech, after beating Novak Djokovic, which he describes as “ the best victory of [his] career, in a stadium packed to the rafters where the atmosphere was wild. ” The first Monegasque player in history to reach the Top 50 and win a Masters 1000, Valentin Vacherot, born in Monaco, proudly bears the red and white colours. “ Coming from one of the smallest countries in the world, but a true land of sport, gives extra wings .” At the Monte-Carlo Country Club, which supported his rise, his training routine is meticulously planned, with days that can be filled “ from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. ” between tennis, weight training, and physiotherapy. Valentin Vacherot now knows that he can reach the summits. “ My place is there, and it is up to me to try to go even higher. ” Monaco has its champion. Aujourd’hui, il confie avoir senti que « quelque chose se passait ». « Tu commences à gagner un, puis deux matchs ; et tu te dis que rien ne peut t’arrêter ». Ce qui a semblé une fulgurance aux yeux du public a plutôt été le résultat d’entraînements assidus ; entraînements qui n’ont pas toujours été récompensés. Mais les efforts finissent toujours par payer et Valentin Vacherot souligne « l’alignement des étoiles » dans le parcours qui l’a mené des qualifications à la victoire en finale contre son cousin Arthur Rinderknech après s’être imposé face à Novak Djokovic, la « meilleure victoire de [sa] carrière, dans un stade plein à craquer où l’ambiance était folle ». Premier joueur monégasque de l’histoire à atteindre le Top 50 et à remporter un Masters 1000, Valentin Vacherot, né à Monaco, porte fièrement les couleurs rouge et blanc. « Venir d’un des plus petits pays au monde, mais une vraie terre du sport, donne des ailes supplémentaires ». Au Monte-Carlo Country Club qui a porté son ascension, sa routine d’entraînement est millimétrée, avec des journées pouvant être remplies « de 8 heures à 18 h 30 » entre tennis, musculation et soins. Valentin Vacherot sait dorénavant qu’il peut atteindre les sommets. « Ma place est là et à moi d’essayer d’aller encore plus haut ». Monaco tient son champion.
