Legends of motor sport A founding discipline of the Principality’s sporting imagination for over a century, motor racing established Monaco’s legendary status with Louis Chiron, the first Monegasque driver to win the Monaco Grand Prix in 1931. Subsequently, although the Monte-Carlo Rally was founded in 1911, it was the Grand Prix that organised motor sport with meticulous precision, transforming the streets of the Principality into a mythical circuit. Today, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc is the most renowned ambassador of this red-and-white sportiness. But he is not alone. The vice-president of the Yacht Club de Monaco, Pierre Casiraghi, the tennis player Valentin Vacherot, the 400-metre athlete Téo Andant, and the rugby player Antoine Zeghdar belong to this determined new generation, capable of making their mark at sea, on courts, pitches, or stadiums around the world with the style of a Principality they represent with pride. Alongside these athletes in the spotlight, Monaco also showcases and nurtures new talents. Almong them, the skier Arnaud Alessandria, the boxer Hugo Micallef, the skater Davide Lewton-Brain, and the rider Íñigo Lopez de la Osa Franco, Monegasque nationals, are part of this vibrant scene, as are the Swiss rider Anastasia Nielsen and the French swimmer Lisa Pou, both Monegasque residents defending the colours of the Principality. As a team, the Monaco Basket Association’s players (MBA) are, for their part, committed to reaching as far and as high as possible. Their paths differ, but their foundation is shared: a Rock that propels athletes to leap and rebound. Plus tard, et tandis que le Rallye Monte-Carlo naît en 1911, les Grands Prix dessinent le sport automobile avec une précision horlogère, transformant les rues de la Principauté en circuit mythique. Aujourd’hui, le Monégasque Charles Leclerc est l’ambassadeur le plus connu de cette sportivité rouge et blanc. Mais il n’est pas seul. Le vice-président du Yacht Club de Monaco Pierre Casiraghi, le tennisman Valentin Vacherot, l’athlète de 400 mètres Téo Andant et le rugbyman Antoine Zeghdar appartiennent à cette nouvelle génération déterminée, capable de s’imposer en mer, sur les courts, terrains ou stades à travers le monde avec le style d’une Principauté qu’ils représentent avec fierté. À côté de ces athlètes sur qui les projecteurs sont rivés, Monaco révèle et accompagne de nouveaux talents. Les parcours diffèrent mais le socle est commun : celui d’un Rocher qui fait bondir et rebondir les athlètes.

The great start will take place on 22 and 23 August, with a debut time-trial stage starting from the Place du Casino. Événement sans précédent : le pays s’apprête à accueillir La Vuelta l’été prochain, course cycliste espagnole qui sera lancée… en Principauté ! Le grand départ aura lieu les 22 et 23 août avec une première étape contre-la-montre qui partira de la Place du Casino.
