La Rascasse IN POLE POSITION ON PORT HERCULE

Nightlife Vie nocturne

EN POLE POSITION SUR LE PORT HERCULE

L a Rascasse reopened its doors on 9 April. A longstanding institution in Port Hercule, situated opposite the renowned bend on the Monaco Grand Prix circuit, the venue fully embraces its passion for sport – particularly motor racing – whilst remaining true to its lively party spirit. After four months of renovation work, Monaco’s legendary nightlife hotspot has reopened with a décor inspired by motorsport. A chic sports bar at the heart of the circuit The new Rascasse is an elegant sports bar, designed as a tribute to the world of motor racing: a black and white chequered floor reminiscent of the starting grid, vintage racing photographs adorning the walls, a podium dedicated to drivers, helmets, and racing suits, including that of the local hero Charles Leclerc. The spectacular ceiling features compressed engines and car parts, creating a mechanical installation above the guests’ heads. Once a humble fishermen’s hut and now one of Monaco’s most well-known nightlife destinations, La Rascasse continues a story that spans over 70 years. Part of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer’s collection of restaurants and bars since 2011, this venue in the La Condamine district maintains the dual character that has contributed to its success: a lively spot in the early evening, transforming into a vibrant venue that continues late into the night. From 5.30 p.m., the terrace and main room welcome early evening guests for après-work drinks, offering cocktails at preferential prices at the start of the evening. From Thursday to Saturday, live bands set the tone before 11 p.m., making way for DJ sets. Major sporting events are also shown on screens, cementing the venue’s role as a gathering point for following the latest sporting action. ■ SIGNATURE COCKTAILS AND SHARING FINGER FOOD The menu maintains the motor racing spirit with creations whose names clearly reflect their ingredients: “Rascasse Paddock”, featuring mezcal, crème de cassis, lemon, and ginger beer; “Pit Stop”, with tonka infused vodka, Frangelico, and coffee; and “Pole Position”, combining rum, melon, Cointreau, lemon, pineapple, and orgeat. For the food, the emphasis is on convivial finger foods which can be rounded off with a Finger Signature Casque N°16 for dessert – a shortbread biscuit with a caramel centre and a milk chocolate coating.
